The NHF Bill of Rights

Preamble

We, the citizens of the No Hard Feelings (NHF) Discord server, in order to foster a welcoming and respectful community, establish these rights to ensure that every member can enjoy their time here to the fullest. As Mr. President, I affirm these rights for all members of NHF.

Article I: The Right to Create and Manage Voice Channels

Every citizen of NHF has the right to create their own voice channels. These channels are akin to private property, where the creator has full control over the environment, similar to owning a home. This includes deciding who can enter, who can speak, and the overall atmosphere of the channel. Server moderators reserve the right to intervene in extreme circumstances (e.g., rule violations, safety concerns) to ensure community well-being.

Article II: The Right to Control Voice Channel Content

Citizens who create voice channels have the right to control the content and activities within their channels, including:

  • Managing screen sharing permissions
  • Controlling who can contribute audio
  • Setting discussion topics The creator's decisions must be respected by all participants, just as one would respect the rules set by a homeowner within their property.

Article III: The Right to Personal Expression

Citizens of NHF have the right to express themselves within the server, provided that their expressions do not infringe on others’ rights or violate community guidelines. This includes:

  • Using appropriate nicknames and avatars that adhere to community standards
  • Sharing personal thoughts and opinions in designated channels
  • Engaging in respectful debate and discussion

Article IV: The Right to Safety

All citizens have the right to feel safe within NHF. This includes:

  • Protection from harassment, bullying, and any form of abuse
  • The right to report safety concerns to moderators or administrators without fear of retaliation
  • Assurance that all reports will be taken seriously and addressed promptly

Article V: The Right to Participate

Citizens have the right to participate in server activities and events, which include:

  • Engaging in server-wide discussions, games, and activities
  • Participating in voting for server decisions, such as new rules or event ideas
  • Contributing to community-building efforts

Article VI: The Right to Fair Moderation

All citizens have the right to fair and unbiased moderation. This includes:

  • Being clearly informed of the rules and expectations
  •  Receiving warnings and explanations for any disciplinary actions
  •  Having the opportunity to appeal any decisions believed to be unjust

Article VII: The Right to Access Server Resources

Citizens have the right to access server resources such as:

  • Tutorials, guides, and other materials to navigate and use the server effectively
  • Support from moderators and experienced members
  • Access to shared files and documents relevant to the community

Article VIII: Transparency and Consent for Content Use

This server may be used for content creation purposes, meaning interactions within may be captured for creative or promotional use. While we strive to respect privacy, members should be aware that participation in discussions or activities may carry this risk. If you have concerns or questions regarding this policy, please contact the moderators or administrators for clarification.

Article IX: The Right to Propose Amendments

Citizens of NHF have the right to propose amendments to this Bill of Rights. The process is as follows:

1. Starting a Discussion Thread:

  • Use the designated #amendments channel to start a new thread with a clear and descriptive title (e.g., "Proposal to Add a Right to Host Events").
  • In the thread, explain your proposed amendment and why it is necessary. Detail how it would benefit the community.

2. Engaging in Discussion:

  • Encourage other members to participate in the discussion.
  • Be respectful of differing opinions. Constructive debate is welcomed to refine the proposal.

3. Gathering Support:

  •  If the thread gains significant support, request a formal review by tagging a moderator or administrator.
  • The proposal will be reviewed along with community feedback.

4. Formal Review and Voting:

  • If approved for a vote, the proposal will be presented to the community.
  • A majority vote in favor will result in the amendment being added to the NHF Bill of Rights.

By following this process, we ensure the NHF Bill of Rights remains responsive to the evolving needs and desires of our community.

Conclusion

These rights are established to create a community where respect, safety, and enjoyment are paramount. By upholding the NHF Bill of Rights, we ensure that No Hard Feelings remains a place where everyone can thrive and feel at home
